Introduction and Course Overview
For the following course, we'll use a project-based approach to cover many of the tools and techniques found in Mudbox 2012.

Getting Started with Mudbox
To quickly get started working in Mudbox, we'll first go over the user interface and how to maneuver around efficiently.

Sculpting Basics
Since sculpting is such a vital part of Mudbox, we'll take some time to cover the basics of sculpting, including how to use the sculpt tools and set sculpting properties.

Editing Stencils
Using stencils to sculpt and paint our models has become even more useful with the ability to edit those stencils. In this lesson we'll look at how we can bring in new stencil images and then modify them to better fit our models.

Working with sculpt layers
To isolate sculpted detail on our model and maximize flexibility later in the pipeline, we'll utilize sculpt layers.

Using vector displacement maps
Sculpted detail can be created in Mudbox using a variety of methods, but we'll explore the new vector displacement maps as a method of transferring more complex detail.

Material and texture basics
Adding materials and textures can be an important part of a Mudbox workflow. In this lesson we'll explore the basics of working with materials and texture maps.

On-target presentation
Mudbox's on-target presentation features attempt to match our working environment with the final output environment as closely as possible. We'll look at using some of these on-target features such as viewport filters and image-based lighting.

Painting basics
Mudbox has a powerful painting toolset and in this lesson, we'll go over a variety of these tools. We'll look at the use of paint brushes and stamps and how to change brush properties.

Using multiple paint layers
Convincing surfaces are often comprised of multiple texture maps spanning a number of different channels. In this lesson we will explore methods for creating maps using this workflow in Mudbox..

Adjusting paint layers
With our texture maps created, we can now look at how to use the image adjustment brushes and the Adjust Color function to quickly modify those textures without leaving Mudbox.

UV-less painting with PTEX
PTEX painting is a great new feature in Mudbox that will allow us to paint high-resolution textures without the need for UVs. In this lesson we'll look at the PTEX setup and workflow.

Mudbox and Photoshop integration
Mudbox provides a great deal in terms of 3D texture creation, but we can also integrate Adobe® Photoshop® seamlessly into our texturing workflow.

Extracting maps in Mudbox
To transfer high-resolution detail from sculpted meshes onto lower resolution geometry, we'll explore the use of map extraction in Mudbox.

Transferring detail between meshes
Transferring subdivision levels and sculpted detail to meshes with different topology is important for maintaining flexibility in our work. In this lesson we'll explore the use of Transfer Details in accomplish this.

Using the Pose tools
In order to pose a sculpted character for presentation, manipulate portions of a model to get better access, or just deform areas of a model, we can use the Pose Tools to quickly manipulate our geometry.

Integrating Mudbox with other 3d applications
Working quickly and efficiently between multiple applications is often a vital part of any workflow. In this lesson we'll explore the new features that will allow us to work seamlessly between Mudbox and Maya, 3ds Max, or Softimage.
