Racing the Camaro to market with 3D design technology.
To assemble GM’s iconic pony car, the company needed to quickly retool a plant that was originally used for truck manufacturing. GM transformed the plant into a complete digital factory model. This 3D model enabled the team to perform virtual design reviews and identify clashes with existing infrastructure before physical retooling began, saving GM millions of dollars.
The creative process started with concept sketches that captured the designers’ artistic inspiration and established the vehicle’s unique appeal.
Designers and engineers collaborated on the evolving vehicle design to achieve an optimal aesthetic result congruent with platform architecture.
