RMI2009, Oct 1-3
Autodesk was a platinum sponsor of Rocky Mountain Institute’s 2009 Conference. RMI2009 brought together leaders in technology and industry to discuss the challenges presented in ending the fossil-fuel era and to explore solutions that will help society make better use of its resources through efficiency and renewable energy. Autodesk CEO Carl Bass spoke on a panel entitled Natural Capitalism and Transformational Design with industry luminaries Janine Benyus, Paul Hawken, Ray Anderson, and Amory Lovins, moderated by the CEO of RMI Michael Potts. The panelists discussed how the book Natural Capitalism has shaped economic, agricultural, and environmental ideas and how it might continue to shape our future.

Cleantech Forum in Boston, Sept 8-10
This event will assemble CEOs, investors, scientists and policy makers to explore the latest developments and challenges in clean technologies with a focus on innovation, government spending and world trends. California Clean Tech Open Symposium
Autodesk, in partnership with the Clean Tech Open, hosted the California Clean Tech Open Symposium at the Autodesk Gallery at One Market in San Francisco. The symposium had over 300 attendees and focused on the topic "Renewable Energy: Reducing Capital Intensity and Succeeding." Speakers and panelists provided fresh perspectives on the regulatory, technology, investing, and utility challenges involved in renewable energy. At this event, Autodesk announced the launch of its Clean Tech Partner Program, which grants free Autodesk software to startups and early-stage clean technology companies.

Green Building Summit

By 2020, California buildings will have to be built to a net zero energy standard. Compostmodern

This annual interdisciplinary conference explores the range of design thinking necessary to create a socially and ecologically responsible society. This year, designers, manufacturers and business leaders came together to discuss how sustainable solutions converge as design, ecology, social activism, business, and economics intersect. European Sustainable Design Council (ESDC) Kick-Off Meeting
February 4, 2009, Paris, France
The ESDC brings together leaders in industry, business and government to identify and break down the barriers that prevent the implementation of sustainable design solutions within industries. On February 4th, senior level officials gathered at the residence of the British Ambassador to France for an initial kick-off meeting. Hosted by British Ambassador Sir Peter Westmacott, along with Autodesk and HEC School of Management, attendees discussed the importance of design in the move towards a more sustainable planet and explored what a dedicated group of leaders from the public and private sector could do to further the widespread implementation of sustainable design. This was the first of many meetings to come for the ESDC.

State of Green Business Forum

The State of Green Business Forum was organized by Greener World Media and featured the launch of State of Green Business 2009, a report showing how, and how well, U.S. companies are implementing environmental initiatives. Speakers from leadership companies and think tanks shared their insights and experiences on such topics as green design innovation, water as a business issue, and buildings and energy efficiency. Autodesk’s Sustainable Design Program Manager Dawn Danby spoke on a panel exploring how companies harness environmental thinking to create new products and sources of business value.
