SAN RAFAEL, Calif., March 25, 2008—Autodesk launches newest versions of its design software solutions for the education market: Autodesk Design Institute, Autodesk Design Academy and Autodesk DesignKids.

Autodesk Design Institute offers academic institutions Autodesk 2D and 3D design software and curricula for teaching architecture and engineering, civil and structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and industrial design. The Autodesk DesignKids software solution is designed specifically for primary schools to support academic performance and bridge the gap between theory and practice through fun and challenging learning activities. With 2D and 3D design software and project-based curricula, Autodesk DesignKids brings real-world context to students in key areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and prepares students for academic success. 
This newest release features enhancements to the curricula and software:

  • Design Basics is an introduction to the design process.
  • Jewelry Designer teaches students to design and create their own jewelry.
  • Flight teaches students to develop a layout pattern for a paper airplane, build it, and fly it.

Purchase Options for Autodesk Design Institute —United States and Canada

  • System Solution—ideal for large college or university systems; an institution may install as many software licenses as needed (3ds Max Design is limited to 75 seats).
  • Campus Pack—ideal for medium-size college or university systems; you can install up to 75 Autodesk software licenses.
  • Class Pack—ideal for the single classroom or lab; you can install up to 25 Autodesk software licenses.

Purchase Options for Autodesk Design Academy

  • Annual term license—ideal for schools with limited funding or expiring budgets. Annual term licenses are available in one-year or multiple-year terms. At the end of the term, the software and curriculum licenses can be renewed for another term or can be removed from computers without any further commitment.
  • Perpetual license—ideal for schools that want to purchase and own the Autodesk Design Academy license without any commitment to future purchases. Perpetual licenses do not expire and can be upgraded. You can simply purchase upgrades yearly or as budgets permit.
  • Autodesk Design Academy Plusgrade—ideal for schools that already license Autodesk stand-alone software or a qualifying competitive product. Upgrade (or “plusgrade”) your existing Autodesk software and/or qualifying competitive products to Autodesk Design Academy and receive curricula and a suite of Autodesk software titles.

Purchase Options for Autodesk DesignKids:

  • Autodesk DesignKids License—available as a 10-seat license with additional licenses available for purchase. The software license can be upgraded, allowing schools to purchase upgrades yearly or as budgets permit.
  • Autodesk DesignKids Plusgrade—ideal for institutions that already license Autodesk stand-alone software or a qualifying competitive product. You can upgrade (or “plusgrade”) your Autodesk software and/or qualifying competitive products to Autodesk Design Academy and receive curricula and a suite of Autodesk software titles.
