If You Don't Get Enough Results

What to Do Example
Be as specific as you can and verify your spelling. If you misspell, or shorten a word, such as CAD for AutoCAD or tech for technical, you may not get any results. Or, you may get results you were not searching for.
Check the results you already have for a similar word or phrase. If you search for Drawing Data, your results probably include the word "Symbols." Try your search using Symbols instead.
Widen the scope of your search by checking all the checkboxes in the search interface. Verify that all checkboxes in the search interface are checked. This ensures that the scope of your search is set to all collections.

If You Get Too Many Results

What To Do Example
Use additional words to make your search more specific. Suppose you enter AutoCAD plotting. To obtain results that are more likely to have the information you want, enter AutoCAD 2002, plotting in color instead.
Enter quotation marks around your search word. Your results will be exactly that word(s). Enter "architectural studio" to avoid results such as "architectural desktop".
Uncheck checkboxes in the search interface to narrow scope. Uncheck the checkboxes of collections that you don't want to query. If you are looking for product support information, then just check Support Knowledgebase, Product Updates and Drivers.
Click "Search within results" from the Search results page. To further refine your search results, click search within results. When you submit this query, it will only search within the current result set, progressively narrowing down your results.

Other Tips for Searching Autodesk.com

(Advanced users: the Autodesk search engine supports simplified operators.)
Issue Example
Capital letters versus lowercase letters: Search is not case sensitive. AutoCAD will yield the same search results as autocad.
Order of words in your search: It does not matter in what order you enter your search words. Enter plotting issue and you get the same results as if you entered issue plotting.
Order of results: Pages in which any one word appears the most often will be listed first in your search results. If you enter annual report, your results will show pages in which the word "annual" and "report" appears. The more times either word appears in the document, the higher the document appears in the results.
