Easter Island Mapping Project

The Easter Island Mapping Project brings Autodesk together with officials of Easter Island at a pivotal time in their history. The island (also known as Rapa Nui) faces significant challenges with the pressure to develop and enable tourism, while protecting its historical artifacts and natural resources. In addition, there is a need to educate the youngest citizens of the island, who are losing a connection with their cultural past as modernization continues. This project was conceived to help create 3D digital models to visualize and understand the impact of development plans on the island’s cultural treasures.
